Downeast Horizons Children Services Program Wraps Holiday Gifts for Others in Need

The Downeast Horizons Children Services Program began a local holiday tradition by volunteering their time wrapping gifts for others in need. This event was made possible with help from the Ellsworth DHHS office.

"It was great fun," says Nikki Cutchens, Downeast Horizons Children Services Administrator. "The children we serve spent a few hours wrapping gifts for others in need while also learning the importance of community service. They experienced a valuable lesson and spread holiday joy at the same time."

"Over the years, the adults in our program have volunteered their time at other events and locations as a way to give back to the community they reside in," said Tony Zambrano, Downeast Horizons Executive Director, "Whether they volunteer an hour or an afternoon, they understand they are making a difference in the lives of others."

Since 1974, Downeast Horizons has been devoted to the establishment of community-based services for local people with developmental disabilities and their families. Downeast Horizons is a non-profit organization helping to serve these needs in Hancock and Penobscot counties.
