Out of an abundance of caution, Downeast Horizons has decided to follow the guidance from the State of Maine and close all in-person adult day and evening programs, and shift programming to a telehealth model.
The guidance from the State is that programs should not operate in counties where the case rate per 10,000 people is 16 or higher in the last 28 days. As of Thursday, November 19th, the case rate in Hancock County was 23.64 and 19.06 in Penobscot County.
By moving to a telehealth model (similar to the web based education local school districts are using), Downeast Horizons hopes to maintain the employment of every day/evening program staff member willing to work.
We encourage everyone to follow all CDC guidelines, and be as safe as possible so we can return to in person day programming as soon as possible!
